Battle of Nineveh 627 CE: Heraclius personally led his army to fight the Persians which ended with a great victory to the Romans.

The Peace Treaty (628 CE): The Persian Empire collapsed into civil war, the King (Khosrow II) was killed by his own son, and the Persians finally agreed to return the True Cross.

Heraclius returned the True Cross to Jerusalem after 16 years of capture. In March 630 CE, he personally carried the Cross back to Jerusalem.
